First Weeks weeks with your Mistibleu Yorkshire Terrier

These are some of the basic things that you should prepare for before your yorkie arrives. You should have all the things (i.e. bed, crate, bowls, food, lead and toys), that your Yorkie will need so you do not have to run out when you get your puppy. I have given you a sample of the food your puppy has been eating. Use this food soaked in some water. With all the changes going on it will be a comfort to your Yorkie to eat something he/she knows and likes. If you change their food in the future do so gradually. Keeping in mind your Yorkshire terrier is a toy dog and can not afford to miss a meal.

Plan on keeping your Yorkie home for the first week or two. This is important as your Yorkie likes a structured, scheduled lifestyle and needs time to settle into your schedule. Your Yorkie needs to know when he/she will be able to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom and of course when play time is. After a week or two you can take your Yorkie out of his/her home to meet its new friends and family. Do not forget your Yorkshire Terrier needs to eat and drink when he/she is away from home for any length of time..

Your main objective is to let your puppy know you love him/her and will take care of the them. When you are not playing with your Yorkie or you need to divert your time elsewhere, put your Yorkie in its crate where it will feel safe.

Your new puppy just lost its mother, brothers, sisters and the only home it knew. Think of it this way, what if you were left in a foreign country where you did not know anyone and could not speak the language. That's just what happened to your Yorkie. So be patient, your Yorkie is a smart dog and a fast learner.

The Yorkshire terrier has a very strong-minded way. You should be prepared to start "fun" training from day one. Your objective is not to break your Yorkie or make it afraid of you. You just want your happy go lucky Yorkie to learn a few rules. You need to teach your Yorkie its name, the sit command, the come command, the quiet command, the rest or down command at the very least. If you do not know how to do this then you should enroll your Yorkie in a puppy class where an instructor will teach you how to teach your dog.

Your Yorkie has been in the process of being taught to use a dog litter box with paper in it. Remember your Yorkie is still a puppy and needs to have this behavior reinforced in order to become completely house broken using this method. If you have elected for your puppy to go outside give them a little time to get use to being outside as they have not been outside before.

HOUSEBREAKING STARTS IMMEDIATELY!.
